Through the first four weeks of the 2024 season, the Philadelphia Eagles had one of the worst secondaries in the NFL.

Things seemed dire for the 2-2 squad.
Everything changed after the bye week, though. And it wasn’t just because the Eagles finally got back to running the ball.
The addition of Cooper DeJean in the slot last season changed everything for Philadelphia’s defense. Overnight, the Eagles went from one of the worst defenses in the sport to the best in many statistical categories.
DeJean’s brilliance was on full display throughout the 2024 season.
And …
He was even better during the playoffs.
DeJean’s pick-six in Super Bowl LIX off of a Patrick Mahomes throw didn’t just make the score 17-0. It fundamentally changed the complexion of the game.

The Eagles went on to top the Chiefs by a 40-22 score and DeJean was immortalized forever.
Not bad for a rookie.
Now entering his second season with the team, it doesn’t look like DeJean will be fully switching positions anytime soon. But defensive coordinator Vic Fangio did tease multiple times in OTAs Tuesday that the organization is interested in getting DeJean to practice as an outside corner and even as a safety. … signaling an eventual major change.
Fangio specifically said that DeJean could end up being very good as a safety if given that chance.
It is clear that the Eagles might just want to use DeJean everywhere on the field. If he can show a similar process to that of All-Pros like Kyle Hamilton, Philadelphia’s defense will continue to be among the best in the game.

And DeJean’s stardom will only grow.
