18. New York Giants. Double whammy for the Giants: a roster that needs work and a schedule that looks unforgiving. New York plays 10 games against 2024 playoff teams this season, with six of those coming in the first eight weeks. Playing the AFC West and NFC North on top of six division games is absolutely brutal. And if that wasn’t bad enough, two of the games it drew as a “reward” for finishing fourth are against San Francisco and Las Vegas. Not exactly the cellar dwellers you’d expect.
It’s a tough break, because I really don’t think the roster is that bad. If the Giants had an easier road in front of them, I’d be tempted to think Russell Wilson, Malik Nabers and this fierce pass rush could get them to nine wins. But against this slate, I don’t know. It’s tough to see. Playoff odds: +650

No matter how well Wilson plays, regardless of what Winston and DeVito do, it’ll take a massive upset for any of the three to stand in Dart’s way once he’s ready, whenever that may be. And Daboll knows this, which is why the dance between the development and eventual deployment of a 21-year-old quarterback is a delicate one.
Dart might not play a down for the Giants this season. There’s also a chance he starts much sooner than anticipated. Embrace this as Big Blue reality, which remains a mystery because of what we know and what we don’t.

27. New York Giants: Russell Wilson & Malik Nabers. Nabers earned an 87.1 PFF receiving grade as a rookie in 2024 and should continue to thrive, regardless of whether the Giants slot in Wilson, Jameis Winston or Jaxson Dart at quarterback. Wilson recorded an impressive 6.3% big-time throw rate last season, so it’s clear that he, Winston or Dart will be looking for Nabers deep down the field.

9. Giants: QB Russell Wilson* | HC Brian Daboll. It’s possible we might be underselling Wilson’s alignment with Daboll, who’s really just needed competent play-action quarterbacking to get the ball rolling. But at 36, fresh off consecutive pitstops in Denver and Pittsburgh that ended sluggishly, Wilson just isn’t the play-extending magician he once was. He may well launch some deep shots to Malik Nabers, but the clock is already ticking on Jaxson Dart taking over as the dual threat of the future.

10. Gabe Davis, WR (2024 team: Jaguars). Davis had four straight seasons of at least 500 receiving yards before it was snapped in what was a down year with the Jaguars.

Best fit: Davis is best suited as a secondary pass-catching option. He could play that role on a Giants team with Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton on the roster. Davis reportedly met with the Giants following his release from Jacksonville.
Giants Continue Tweaking Scouting Department | SI
The Giants are hiring Tommy Pernetti, most recently the Ole Miss Rebels college scouting coordinator. He was promoted in March 2025 to the position of Assistant Director of Player Personnel for College Scouting. Pernetti is a 2023 graduate of the University of Miami who, before joining the Rebels, spent one season each as a player personnel assistant at Texas and at his alma mater, where he served as a part-time player personnel and recruiting assistant.
