Titans HC Addresses Treylon Burks’ Performance Amid Trade Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Tennessee Titans have made a series of poor choices in the NFL draft over recent seasons. Former general managers Jon Robinson and Ran Carthon did irreversible damage to the organization by missing on picks or trading away their best players.

Trading away A.J. Brown was an obvious blunder, but replacing him with Treylon Burks was even worse. Burks was the No. 18 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he is still yet to eclipse 700 career receiving yards through three seasons.

Injuries have plagued him throughout his career, and with his original head coach and general manager no longer in Tennessee, many have theorized that he could be a trade candidate this season.

Burks is still recovering from an injury during the early part of OTAs, but he is doing some work on the side of practices. Fans have been quick to say that he looks slow or off of his normal playing weight from years past.

Head coach Brian Callahan spoke to the media on Tuesday after the Titans’ practice and addressed Burks’ performance amid the trade rumors swirling around him.

“Anybody coming off a significant surgery and rehab is always going to be probably off their full playing weight,” Callahan said. “The conditioning part is sort of coming along with it, I don’t see any ill effects. Trey’s just a bigger body so I’m pretty pleased with where he’s at.”

While this may very well be coach speak, Callahan does seem excited about the prospect of having Burks back. New general manager Mike Borgonzi did not show much faith in him, however, by adding two veteran wideouts and drafting two more.

Burks may not have much trade value at this point anyway, even as a former first-rounder. His status is one to track as the offseason program wraps up and the team approaches training camp in July.
