The Houston Texans are making moves this offseason, but maybe one that ends up hurting the franchise rather than helping it.
According to multiple reports, the Texans are trading five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders for a package of picks. Not only does Houston now need to fix the interior offensive line, but the two-time defending AFC South champs must also find a new franchise left tackle to protect quarterback C.J. Stroud.

The good news? General manager Nick Caserio will have ample picks to maneuver around the draft and select his future heir on the blindside in place of the standout Tunsil. Houston will receive a 2025 third-round pick, a 2025 seventh-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick from the Commanders.
Washington, which continues to build around reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels, will also receive a 2025 fourth-round pick.
Houston, which owns the No. 25 pick in this year’s draft, likely turns its sights on names like Texas’ Kelvin Banks or Ohio State’s Josh Simmons with its first pick. In Rounds 2 and 3, the Texans could add a receiver and defensive lineman to shore up two other positions of need.
Here’s a look at Houston’s updated draft picks for the 2025 draft.
