The NFL draft provided an early sign that the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the right path.
The working relationship between the Jaguars‘ recently formed leadership structure of James Gladstone, Tony Boselli, and Liam Coen is still quite new. However, Day 2 of the NFL draft further cemented the trust and cohesiveness that had already been established over the last few months.

The Athletic’s Mike Silver spent the NFL draft in the Jaguars’ draft room. Among the stories he called from those three days in his latest article was Boselli’s affinity for LSU offensive tackle Emery Jones, who Silver referred to as a draft crush that Boselli “fell hard” for.
However, landing Jones wasn’t meant to be. Wyatt Milum was a prospect–that Boselli also really liked–who had a high “Jagaurs DNA” score and was someone who offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett was pounding the table for.
So when it came to decision time for Gladstone, he, as we know, chose Milum.
Did Boselli have an affinity for Jones? It sure sounds like it. But at the end of the day, Boselli wasn’t there to “bigfoot his rookie GM,” as Silver wrote.

“To have the No. 2 pick from 30 years ago, a Hall of Famer, listen to the O-line coach tell us why he liked Milum better than the guy he loved … man, I respect it,” Gladstone said.
Later, Gladstone elaborated: “You want to talk about grace and being a good teammate? Tony didn’t flinch at all. That’s one of those moments where you earn trust amongst each other.”
Ultimately, it’s likely going to take years before we know how this new era in Jacksonville is going to turn out, but if you want a very early sign that things are on the right track, this is one of them.
