Shortly after defensive coordinator Shane Bowen complimented Dane Belton in a pre-practice media session, the safety went out and grabbed his third interception in six OTAs so far.

“Dane has been really good for us here early,” Bowen said. “Like he’s had a really good spring. Finding ways to get him on the field, what he can do for us to help us. But really encouraged about that group. I think M (new secondary coach/defensive pass game coordinator Marquand Manuel) and (new cornerbacks coach) Jeff (Burris) have done a really good job with them, and Pops (Mike Adams). They’ve done a really good job working with those guys and I’m encouraged about where we are at right now. “

Giants’ Shane Bowen: Deonte Banks ‘locked in’ after down year | USAToday.com

Bowen went as far as to say Banks is “locked in” and mentioned that the 24-year-old is asking a lot of questions.

“He’s come in, he goes to work every day. Like he’s locked in in meetings. He locked in out here,” he said. “Jeff (Burris) is doing a really good job with him, spending time with him, talking to him, teaching him the game, just the approach. Like the approach, the professionalism, being locked into what we’re asking him to do…”You notice him asking questions, wanting to know more, wanting to be a little bit more detailed with what we’re asking him to do. So I’m encouraged about the progress he’s made from when he got back here to where we are right now.”

Giants OTAs Notes: Not a great day for the quarterbacks; tempers flare | SNY.tv

Wan’Dale Robinson met the media. He said he’s been pleasantly surprised with Wilson. He, like any receiver would, heard stories of him. It sounded like he developed a preconceived notion. Wilson is much better than Robinson expected, evident by the private workout he, Slayton and Johnson held with him a bit back. Robinson said he can still sling it, but more importantly, he hasn’t worked with a quarterback who’s commanded the huddle like him before.

Why Giants’ Russell Wilson isn’t worried about sharing information with Jaxson Dart | NJ.com

“I just think about having success today,” Wilson said. “That’s always been my approach. I’m trying to be the best in the world. I think that for me, mentally, you have confidence in yourself and you have confidence in what you do, your process. I constantly stay the course and understand that if I’m the best me, I know how great that is. I always just stay within. I don’t really think about outside.”

Ranking NFL’s most likely worst-to-first teams for 2025 season | ESPN.com

7. New York Giants, NFC East. Odds of winning division: 3.3% (4th in division) Odds of making playoffs: 10.1% (16th in NFC)

It’s a little surprising that FPI doesn’t have the Giants lower, as they are currently 27th in the NFL after being 31st before the 2024 season. But their QB room — with Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart — should be an improvement over the options they had last season. I also expect them to have a better defense, which had a very poor turnover rate last season and adds edge rusher Abdul Carter to an exciting pass rush.

The problem for New York is the schedule, rated as the toughest in the NFL based on both FPI and projected DVOA. That starts with the games in the Giants’ own division, which now has a strong Commanders team, along with games against the NFC North and AFC West. Plus, the Giants play the 49ers and Patriots, who are both mentioned above as teams that should be better in 2025.

PFF Center Rankings: Top 32 ahead of the 2025 NFL season | PFF

26. John Michael Schmitz JR., New York Giants. Although the former second-round pick hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, he did show growth during his second season. After posting just a 41.4 PFF overall grade in his rookie season, Schmitz earned a 61.4 mark this past season.

Describing Every NFL Team’s Nightmare 2025 Season in 1 Sentence or Less | Bleacher Report

New York Giants: Because this is still a rebuild and there is limited pressure on either quarterback as a result, it would take major injuries to both Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart for 2025 to be a nightmare here.
