Seattle Seahawks off-ball linebacker Ernest Jones IV had a massive impact on the 2024 defense following his midseason arrival in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. Jones was re-signed by GM John Schneider earlier this offseason to a three-year, $33 million contract with $15 million in guarantees. He was incredibly productive despite playing through a knee injury.

Jones had offseason surgery on that knee. He spoke with Seahawks reporters after the team’s latest OTA practice. Jones is recovering nicely.

“This place fits me,” a smiling Jones said during his first meeting of the new season with reporters. “I love this team, I love this defense, I love those players in the locker room. It [the contract] meant everything to me.”

Jones isn’t participating in team drills at OTAs, as Bob Condotta noted above. The former Los Angeles Rams linebacker is taking part in individual drills and walk-through periods. Still, Jones’ recovery is going according to plan with mandatory minicamp arriving next week.

Jones recorded 94 tackles in 10 regular-season appearances last season. Jones has been the ideal scheme fit in head coach Mike Macdonald’s complex defensive system. With his recovery going nicely, there’s every reason to believe he’s slated for a massive full-time campaign in Seattle.
