Ian McShane shares why it was smart to bring Ana de Armas into the “John Wick” franchise in the new film “Ballerina.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars, a smaller franchise in the grand scheme of NFL teams, got a shoutout from a movie star this week.
Jaguars players, staff and family members were among the first people to see Ana de Armas’s “John Wick” spinoff, “Ballerina,” which premiered in theaters this Friday, June 6. She even sent the Jags a personalized message, wishing them luck in the upcoming season.
Here’s what Ana de Armas said, some celebrities who are Jacksonville Jaguars fans and what to know about the “Ballerina” release.
Is Ana de Armas a Jacksonville Jaguars fan? Why the ‘Ballerina’ star shouted the Jags out
There’s no reason to believe movie star Ana de Armas, of “Knives Out,” “Blonde” and “War Dogs” fame, is a full-out Jacksonville Jaguars fan, but she did wish them luck and say “Go Jags!” this week. The movie star shouted out the Jags in a social media video that the team posted to its Instagram this week. She even said “Go Jags!” Which is probably enough to claim her as a fan, right?
For some unclear reason, the Jags were among the first to see her new “John Wick” spinoff movie, “Ballerina,” which released this week on Friday, June 6. In the movie, de Armas plays a ballerina who’s training to become an assassin.
The Jaguars’ official Instagram account posted photos of some of the players and their families at an exclusive screening, along with a video greeting from de Armas.
“Hi, Jaguars. This is Ana de Armas. I’m so excited to have you be one of the first to see my new film, ‘Ballerina,’” Ana de Armas said in her video for the Jags.
“Hope you’re ready for it. Wishing you the best of luck in your upcoming season. Go Jags!”
What day does ‘Ballerina’ come out?
“Ballerina,” starring Ana de Armas, Lance Reddick, Keanu Reevse and Ian McShane, released to theaters on Friday, June 6.
Is Ballerina before or after ‘John Wick 4’?
“Ballerina” takes place in between the third and fourth “John Wick,” movies, which star Keanu Reeves as the title character.
“Much of Ballerina takes place at the same time as the 2019 film ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,’” Time Magazine reports.
“That film begins with John Wick being deemed ‘excommunicado’ by the High Table, a formidable 12-person council that governs the most powerful underground crime organizations, for killing one of their members at the New York Continental, a luxury hotel that acts as neutral ground for hitmen and women.”
What streaming service will ‘Ballerina’ be on?
“Ballerina” likely won’t be available on streaming for a couple of months, based on past Lionsgate releases.
“‘Ballerina’ is not streaming on Netflix right now. That said, ‘Ballerina’ is a Lionsgate release, and another recent Lionsgate release, ‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera,’ began streaming on Netflix after two-and-a-half-months in theaters,” Decider reported.
Based on that timeline, “Ballerina” will likely hit Netflix in late August and could be available to rent or buy on platforms like Amazon Prime sooner.
