A former Longhorn is back on the free-agent market. After just one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, running back Keilan Robinson was released by the team on Thursday. He will now look to catch one with a new organization and become an important part of their offense.

Robinson appeared in six games in his rookie season, getting most of his action on special teams. His best game came in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans when he returned two kickoffs for 34 yards. He did get five snaps on offense during his Jaguars tenure but did not touch the ball.

Although Robinson’s time in Jacksonville didn’t go as planned, he was a productive player in college. After transferring to Texas prior to the start of the 2021 season, he set career highs in carries with 45 and rushing yards with 322. He also found the end zone five times and made the most of his opportunities when called upon. The Washington DC native had his best game against West Virginia in 2021 when he recorded 111 yards on nine carries.

While the Longhorns could always bring him back on the practice squad, Robinson will have to look for a new NFL team for the moment. He should draw some interest from teams looking for help on social teams. In the NFL and college, Robinson has shown he can be successful in that role.

During his time as a Longhorn, Robinson played alongside Bijan Robinson, who became one of the best running backs in the NFL.

Playing alongside the Falcons star brought out the best in his game. Over the next few weeks, Robinson will be an interesting name to watch. He can provide value on special teams and, unlike last season, will not start the year on injured reserve.Â
