With the NFL’s free agency period on the horizon, what is the current state of the Indianapolis Colts’ roster?

We know that tight end, cornerback, and safety are the position groups that many have circled as top priorities for the Colts this offseason–and for good reasons–but there are plenty of other positions including linebacker, offensive line, running back, quarterback, and even the defensive line that GM Chris Ballard could justify adding to as well.

And taking a look at the current state of the Colts’ roster can help tell us where additions may be coming beyond the obvious needs that Indianapolis has.

Presumably, with Ballard mentioning after the season that he wants to infuse the roster with competition this offseason, we are going to see the Colts more active in free agency, although to what extent is still very much an unknown.

Salary cap-wise, the Colts have just over $34 million in available space, which ranks as the 18th most in the NFL, according to Over the Cap.
