The Kansas City Chiefs have made their next selection!
The Chiefs took Tennessee defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott with the 63rd overall pick in the second round. We have insta-grades from the three members of the Arrowhead Pride Draft Team.
Caleb: I liked what Norman-Lott was able to put on film during his time at Tennessee, and he does have the fame, explosion and strength to be a starter at the NFL level eventually. My only issue with the pick was I felt it was a bit high, and they might have even been able to swipe him at 66 or 95. This is not a knock on Norman-Lott; it’s just a disagreement on team building.
Norman-Lott plays the game with superior leverage, and a sturdy foundation will, at the very least, make him a productive run stopper in the NFL. The plus side of his game shows up in how he can explode off the snap and create penetration in the pocket or stop run plays before they get going. With an advanced set of hands, he even has room to grow as a pass rusher to go along with his superior athletic ability. This feels like the team trying to replace both Derrick Nnadi and Tershawn Wharton with one selection.

Nate: I’m not a big fan of this initially. I actually like Norman-Lott’s skill set quite a bit. Norman-Lott is an explosive gap shooter who can make splash plays in the backfield and brings pass-rush juice. In 2024, Norman-Lott had 27 pressures in 139 pass rush snaps — a bonkers 19.4% pressure rate. I see the vision, but my issue is that Norman-Lott played a total of 948 snaps over his past four seasons. Last season, he played 225 snaps with only 86 being run downs. For a player with his skill set and talent, why didn’t he get on the field more? Norman-Lott has flashes of tantalizing stuff, but I’m confused why he never turned that into any consistent role. For a player going 63, I want to feel safer about his projection into a larger role, and Norman-Lott has not shown that over five college seasons.
Grade: C-
Rocky: There was a lot of value on the board here at 63, and I’m not sure Norman-Lott was even in my top five players I would have taken here. But he was the best interior pass rusher left on the board, and if you want to take some pressure off Chris Jones and free him from double teams, this pick makes sense. I just would have preferred it at pick 95, not 63.
Norman-Lott didn’t play much in college, and there are concerns that he may have chronic knee issues. But if the Chiefs feel okay about his medicals, the upside is there for him to be an explosive playmaker on the defensive line.
