From the moment the Pittsburgh Steelers signed quarterback Mason Rudolph back after a year with the Tennessee Titans, we knew his days as the starter were numbered. Well before Rudolph re-signed with Pittsburgh, there were rumblings about Aaron Rodgers signing with the team, and on Saturday, it all became a reality.

The moment Rodgers signed, Rudolph immediately got bumped to the No. 2 quarterback spot. This is despite him working throughout the offseason as the starter and performing well. But don’t look for Rudolph to sit around feeling sorry for himself. Rudolph was asked about the situation and handled it with all the poise and professionalism we’ve come to expect from him.

“It won’t change my approach,” Rudolph said. “We’ve got one more week of practice coming up, our mandatory minicamp. It will be nice to get everybody in the building. I’ll keep doing what I’ve done my whole career. I’ve had plenty of adversity and found a way to battle through it. I stayed ready to play well when called upon.”

Rudolph spent his first four NFL seasons with the Steelers. Rudolph went 8-4-1 as a starter before signing with the Tennessee Titans in 2024. Rudolph’s return solidifies the quarterback depth chart and gives the team an experienced leader.
