The Chicago Bears have an exciting group of wide receivers led by veteran DJ Moore, second-year pro Rome Odunze and rookie Luther Burden III, who was drafted in the second round.
With the arrival of new head coach Ben Johnson, the offense is going to look much different than previous seasons in recent memory. In order for the offense to be successful, the receivers will be a big factor, and that means Moore, the veteran of the bunch, will have to lead by example and be a mentor for his two young teammates.

Last week during mandatory minicamp, Moore explained how he plans to mentor both Odunze and Burden this season.
“Well, their role, they’re keeping me young,” Moore said. “Even though I’m not that old in the room, they are like, what? Rome just turned 23 today. Happy birthday to him. But just seeing them just follow behind my lead and just grow from there. Rome’s taken a step up this year, I can already tell. And then Lu (WR Luther Burden III) who we drafted in the second round, I can’t wait to see what he does. I saw him in rookie minicamp doing a lot of things. So that’s that.”
Burden hasn’t practiced since rookie minicamp when he suffered a soft tissue injury that sidelined him for OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Still, Burden is finding ways to put in the work off the field.
“I watched some of his highlights (during) rookie minicamp,” Moore said. “Sadly, he’s not out there right now, but I know he’s watching, he’s been asking a lot of questions, so I just been helping him that way.”

Moore is taking on the role of a mentor while also preparing to be one of the team’s top weapons under his new head coach. And if all those things come together, the Bears should see much more success in 2025.
