The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with veteran quarterback Easton Stick just three days before the 2025 NFL draft. Stick, who played his college ball at North Dakota State, was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft.
The 29-year-old has appeared in six games (four starts), passing for 1,133 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Stick’s best season came in 2023 when he started four games for the Chargers, passing for 1,129 yards and three touchdowns while going 0-4.

The timing of this signing is interesting since ESPN just reported that the Falcons have discussed trading Kirk Cousins with multiple teams. According to Adam Schefter, the trade compensation may varry based on the amount of Cousins’ salary that the Falcons are willing to pay.
“There is a feeling around the league that a team, whether it is the Vikings or Steelers, might be willing to pay down roughly $10 million,” explained Schefter. “How much any team would be willing to pay also would influence the compensation it gives up. The higher the payment, the lower the draft compensation; the lower the payment, the higher the draft compensation.”
Could signing Stick be a sign the team is on the verge of trading Cousins for a draft pick? We’ll have to wait and see, but Stick does give the team an experienced backup in the event that a trade comes to fruition over the next week.
