In a recent article by Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport, he ranks what he believes are the 25 best moves so far this offseason. At the No. 5 spot, he has the Jets grabbing their new starting quarterback.

“Why the Pittsburgh Steelers stubbornly refused to turn back to Fields last year even when the team faltered late is a mystery right up there with Stonehenge and those Easter Island heads,” Davenport wrote. “Fields has his flaws, but he’s also still just 26 years old and one of the NFL’s most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks. Getting even an average NFL starter for $20 million a season is a felony in 11 states.”

Fields’ career has not panned out exactly how he thought it would after he was sleected with the 11th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, but he will be looking for a new start with the Jets.

In just six games started, the 26-year-old field general tallied 1,106 passing yards and five touchdowns on just under 66 percent completion. He was also able to show his running skills with 289 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

The Jets are coming off of a season where they finished 5-12, so Fields will be looking to turn it around and lead the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
