Northern SB County edges SLO County 

Northern Santa Barbara County defensive MVP Ryder McClurg of Santa Ynez sealed the win with an interception, and the Northern Santa Barbara County squad edged San Luis Obispo County 21-20 Saturday night at Santa Ynez in the 14th annual Central Coast FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) All-Star Football Game.

The teams were comprised of seniors. McClurg, a defensive back, made nine tackles in addition to snaring the game-clinching interception.

Zach Sendejas of Righetti was the game MVP. Sendejas made two key quarterback sacks and also forced a fumble in a key spot for Northern Santa Barbara County.

Quarterbacks Gilbert Muriguia of Righetti and Adrian Pasos of Santa Maria tossed three touchdown passes between them for the Northern Santa Barbara County squad. Murguia threw two touchdown passes, and Pasos threw one.

Derek Reynoso of Righetti was the Northern Santa Barbara County Offensive MVP. Reynoso caught seven passes, including one for a touchdown, and completed a pass on a double-pass play.

The game is an annual fund raiser designed to benefit Central Coast schools and has raised a total of more than $2 million dollars, according to an FCA spokesman.

Hancock sports camps

A series of Hancock College sports camps are upcoming.

Baseball camps are scheduled for June 9-12 and June 16-19. Children ages six through 13 are eligible. A softball camp is scheduled for June 27-28. Players ages six through 16 are eligible.

A girls basketball camp is scheduled for July 28-31, and a boys basketball camp is slated for Aug. 4-17. Players ages six-through-17 are eligible for the girls basketball camp, and players ages eight-through-15 are eligible for the boys basketball camp.

Youth basketball camp

Taurasi basketball camp slated for July

The inaugural Taurasi Snow Valley Basketball Camp, an overnight camp for girls ages 11-18, is scheduled to take place July 24-27 at Westmont College.

Former WNBA star Diana Taurasi will oversee the camp. Taurasi is the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer, is considered to be one of the WNBA’s all-time greats and is considered to be a sure first-ballot inductee into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame when she first becomes eligible in 2027. Taurasi announced her retirement in February.

Taurasi is a three-time WNBA champion and six-time Olympic gold medalist. 

Youth softball fundraiser

Lompoc High School softball team and Central Coast Cruisers 16U softball team member Rianna Stouppe has established a Cruisers 16U fundraiser.
