Falcons QB Kirk Cousins will attend mandatory minicamp, per NFL insider Dianna Russini.

The Falcons expect Kirk Cousins to show up for Atlanta’s mandatory minicamp tomorrow, sources say.

Cousins did not attend the team’s voluntary OTAs in late May, but was present for workouts in April.

After wrapping up organized team activities (OTAs), the Atlanta Falcons are set to begin their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. All eyes will be on quarterback Kirk Cousins, who’s been the subject of trade rumors all offseason. The closer we get to the 2025 regular season, the less likely it seems that Cousins will be traded.

While the 36-year-old did not show up for OTAs (as expected), many have wondered whether or not he will make an appearance at minicamp this week. According to a report from NFL insider Dianna Russini, the Falcons are expecting Cousins to attend.

“His preference is still to be traded to a team where he could start,” Russini wrote on Twitter.

Cousins is reportedly on decent terms with the team, and since there’s no obvious trade partner for the Falcons, it makes sense for him to attend minicamp. Plus, since it’s mandatory, Cousins would be fined for each day he misses.

According to NFL.com’s offseason schedule, Atlanta’s minicamp runs from June 10-11. While minicamp is typically three days, the Falcons are one of a handful of teams with just a two-day camp schedule.

As for Cousins, the market for the veteran quarterback seems to be drying up. Since Aaron Rodgers has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, there’s no clear landing spot for Cousins in 2025.

The Minnesota Vikings will likely go with second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy, and the Cleveland Browns have too many quarterbacks to count at the moment. It wouldn’t make much sense for either team to trade for Cousins, which means he’ll probably start the season as Michael Penix Jr.‘s backup in Atlanta.

In our latest 53-man roster projection, we have Cousins making the team in place of backup QB Easton Stick. Check back on Tuesday for updates from Day 1 of Falcons mandatory minicamp.
