GREEN BAY (WLUK) – Edgar “Eddie” Garcia, former Packers punter and current member of the team’s Board of Directors, died Thursday, according to an obituary.
Garcia, 65, lived in Poygan.
“Following his college career, Eddie was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 1982 draft, where he played for 3 seasons. After his time with the NFL ended, he built a long and successful career in marketing and sales, spending much of his career with the Oshkosh Defense division of Oshkosh Corporation,” the obituary states.
Garcia attended Southern Methodist University before being drafted in the 10th round. After three years in Green Bay, he played one year with Miami.
Garcia was elected to the Board of Directors in 2021.
“Besides his immediate family, Eddie is survived by his two sisters, Tania and Lily, his brother Mario, countless other family members, and many friends who felt like family members,” the obituary states.
Services are planned for June 20.
