The Tennessee Titans have plenty of interesting storylines taking place on the defensive side of the ball.

While one of the biggest question marks in Dennard Wilson’s defense will be filling the void left by Harold Landry III, another intriguing point will be in the middle of the unit at the linebacker positions.

When looking at potential landing spots for the top remaining free agents, Moe Moton of Bleacher Report believes the Titans should look into adding former New England Patriots linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley.

Since Bentley earned a starting job in 2020, he’s also contributed to the pass rush, recording 10 sacks. Though he has minimal production in coverage, he’s a proven asset against the run and has the skill set to be an effective blitzer.

Far more consistent than the first two free agents on this list, Bentley can immediately strengthen the defense of a playoff contender.

While the Titans aren’t considered to be playoff contenders just yet, the AFC South is a wide-open division. If they get more production than expected from Cam Ward, the Titans could find themselves in an intriguing battle during the second half of the season.

Bentley is about to turn 29 years old at the end of the month, but he could provide some strong competition and a veteran presence in the middle of the defense. Bentley tore his pectoral muscle in Week 2 of the 2024 season, which forced him to miss the rest of the campaign.

During the three seasons prior, though, he led the Patriots in tackles for three consecutive years, and he’s recorded a solid 89.4 passer rating allowed in coverage during his career.

A move likely wouldn’t be made until closer to training camp, but if the Titans are looking to add a veteran to the middle of the defense, Bentley is probably one of the top options.
