Broughton played sparingly his first four years at Texas, with two starts in 40 games, before starting 15 of 16 in 2024.
“There’s been times I wanted to transfer, but the reason why I stayed – what helped me stay – was my family but also just my Lord and Savior,” he said. “Just really helped me learning what patience was. But also, I love Texas and just loved being around my teammates.”
Sanker, too, was drafted after posting his best season at Virginia: An interception, two fumble recoveries, four pass breakups, a blocked kick, 8.5 tackles for loss, 98 tackles and four pass breakups.
“He just does everything,” Moore said. “There’s a lot of DBs that were going off the board and for him to still be there and available to us – we were talking about him for a while. Just really impressed by this guy.
“His play style, his instincts, his tackling ability. We were really impressed with his ability to play on the back end. We’re really fired up to have this guy. He’ll provide tremendous depth and add competition to the safety position.”
Sanker said he didn’t have a preference where he plays, only that he gets the opportunity to play.
“For me, it didn’t matter where I went. I just love the game, I’m ready to play,” he said.
“I’ve always been super passionate about what I do, so I’m going to bring it every day.”
