Georgia Bulldogs Safety Malaki Starks is now a part of the Baltimore Ravens after the franchise drafted him No. 27 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. After a few seasons in the rugged SEC, Starks will transition into a very physical AFC North division where he will be asked to compete with remarkable talent at the opposing wide receiver position.
The Cincinnati Bengals prioritized resigning wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins this offseason, and the Pittsburgh Steelers acquired DK Metcalf as a free agent earlier this year. Thus, Ravens General Manager Eric Decosta knows he needs to solidify and pass defense to compete effectively this upcoming NFL season if the Ravens want to win the division again. With defensive backs Nate Wiggins, Marlon Humphrey, and Kyle Hamilton already thriving, Starks will have a quality opportunity to step into a locker room full of All-Pro talent, hoping to amalgamate and become an immediate asset.
The Ravens don’t want to start the 2025 NFL season ranking at the bottom of the league in opponent pass yards allowed per game like they did in 2024. So, hopefully, Starks will be the added commodity needed to rewrite the narrative this upcoming fall, helping the team propel to the top of the AFC in 2025.
