Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love ended Wednesday’s minicamp practice with a bang.

During a two-minute drill to close out practice, the offense faced a fourth-and-long situation to keep the drive alive. That’s when Love uncorked a deep ball that hit Mecole Hardman perfectly in stride for a 70-plus-yard touchdown.

The highlight-reel throw quickly made the rounds on social media. Luckily for those who weren’t in attendance, the Packers shared a video of the play:

“It was a great throw, hit the guy right in stride,” Matt LaFleur said after practice. “Now it’s questionable whether he gets that ball off or not.”

In the video, you can see edge rusher Lukas Van Ness in close proximity to Love just before the ball is released. According to reports, the defense argued that the pass rush had gotten home but still ended up doing push-ups after losing the drill.

Perhaps the biggest surprise was who was on the receiving end of the big play. Hardman, who signed a one-year deal with Green Bay this offseason, was primarily used as a gadget player and return specialist with the Chiefs last year.

But even as the oldest room at 27 years of age, Hardman is still a burner. His blazing speed was on full display on his big touchdown on Wednesday when he got behind the defense by a few steps.

“The safety was kind of playing flat-footed,” Hardman said. “So all I know is try to run behind him. After that, Jordan made a good throw, and I just tried to catch the ball and make a play.”

Even without pads, it’s an encouraging sign that Love is connecting on explosive plays in competitive periods. LaFleur is pleased with what he’s seen from his QB this offseason:

“It’s been as good as it could’ve been,” he said.

The Packers will hold one more practice on Thursday to wrap up mandatory minicamp. After that, the team won’t return to the field until training camp begins on July 23.
