Following Wednesday’s minicamp practice, Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Liam Coen was asked about what he’s seen from right tackle Anton Harrison this offseason.
“Obviously, the footwork, the athleticism, the ability to pass pro on an edge,” Coen said. “And when Anton wants to go, he can go. Just consistently doing it on a day-in, day-out basis.

“He’s smart. He understands the why of what we’re trying to get accomplished, but as much as he can continue to rise going into Year 3, and as a first-round pick, to take a huge step this year and be a lockdown tackle for us.”
Harrison was the 27th overall pick by the Jaguars in the 2023 NFL draft and has started 33 out of 34 games during his first two NFL seasons.
Last season, Harrison allowed four sacks and 31 pressures over 582 pass-blocking snaps. Compared to the rest of his position group across the NFL, Harrison ranked 35th in pass-blocking efficiency, and he was 61st in PFF’s run-blocking grade, for what it’s worth.
Similarly to what Coen said, offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett was asked about what he wants to see from Walker Little and Harrison this season, and for both, it centers around solidifying themselves at these tackle positions.

“It’s to solidify the position,” Sarrett said. “Whatever position he (Little) ends up at, to solidify it and go in there and be a 17-game starter for multiple years. And that’s what we see in him and Anton (Harrison). They’re both capable of going to either spot and they’re both capable of starting 17 games for us and going into the playoffs and playing these big games.”
Since taking over as the head coach, Coen has been direct in saying that the offensive line play has to improve this season. Part of that equation, when it comes to accomplishing that, was GM James Gladstone making six additions this offseason between free agency and the NFL draft.
At the tackle positions, specifically, this includes adding free agents Fred Johnson and Chuma Edoga. Gladstone also brought back restricted free agent Cole Van Lanen.
With six new players now in the mix up front, the Jaguars have really leaned into the competition component during OTAs and minicamp as they search for their best starting configuration.

Although we don’t know what specific lineups have been utilized in practice so far, it has been reported that there has been a lot of movement up front as the Jaguars cycle through different combinations.
