No matter where the New York Giants are, they can’t escape being the butt of the joke right now when it comes to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Philadelphia has gone 25-7 in its last 32 contests with Big Blue. Along the way, they have taken former Giant stars and turned them into All-Pros, whether that was cornerback James Bradberry or running back Saquon Barkley.

In the case of Barkley, the former second overall pick’s first season with the Eagles was legendary.

So much so that the President of the United States got in on the jokes Monday evening.

Philadelphia visited the White House and Donald Trump on Monday as part of the tradition of Super Bowl champions meeting with the President to be celebrated for their achievements.

While not all Eagle players were present during the ceremony, Trump took the opportunity to poke fun at the Giants for letting Barkley walk to their rival and walk right into history.

“I was with the Giants and their head coach, and some people told them do anything you have to but don’t lose Saquon,” said the president. “They lost Saquon. …He made the right decision because it is a team sport and there are great people on this team.”

There is one problem with the POTUS boast

The Giants have responded and have strongly denied Trump’s claim.

A team spokesman told Front Office Sports that “there were no conversations” between the President and the organization regarding the subject of Barkley’s free agency.

The site asked again if there were any conversations between the sides or if the team had any further comment on Trump’s comment.

A spokesman bluntly responded, “No.”

Barkley ran for an NFL-record 2,500 yards this past season, including the playoffs. That mark beat Terrell Davis’ MVP season in 1998.

It also was the catalyst for the Eagles’ run to Super Bowl LIX.

While the Giants continue to kick themselves for letting a star of their franchise walk, it’s pretty clear that the Eagles are thrilled with how everything has gone down over the last calendar year. … regardless of whether Trump was involved.
