Ravens pass rush coach Chuck Smith called third year edge rusher Tavius Robinson “one of our centerpieces” at a press conference on Wednesday.

“Listen, Tavius Robinson doesn’t get enough credit because Tavius Robinson is one of our centerpieces. He’s not just a guy who came up [and is] an overachiever. No, no. Tavius Robinson, when you look at it from an organizational standpoint… Tavius Robinson is everything you look for in a Baltimore Raven,” Smith said.

Robinson has shown steady improvement over his two years in the NFL with the Ravens. The edge rusher finished his rookie season with one sack and one quarterback hit. In his second year, Robinson had 3.5 sacks and 12 quarterback hits.

“Every day, Tavius Robinson showed up – and this is not me exaggerating – he sits in the front; he takes notes; he plays hard. He’s taking more snaps than anybody here since I’ve been here in practice. He works after practice. He’s a good person. He got that ‘dog’ in him. And what he’s really worked on really hard, [and what] we’ve worked on is Tavius Robinson now is going to be, I believe, a bonafide pass rusher. And he has an opportunity to have a breakout season.”
