The Washington Commanders will report to training camp next month at the team’s headquarters in Ashburn, Virginia. After completing a three-day minicamp this week, Washington gets around six weeks off before another grueling season begins.

But before the Commanders host the Giants in Week 1, there is the preseason. Washington opens the preseason on August 8 on the road against the New England Patriots. That’s set to be a big day in Foxborough, Massachusetts, as the Patriots plan to unveil a statue of legendary quarterback Tom Brady.

You’d think an event this big would be best saved for a regular-season game. There’s only one problem: Brady likely wouldn’t be available as he’s a part of Fox’s NFL broadcast team. The last time Brady saw the Commanders was in the NFC championship game against the Eagles in January. The week before, Brady was on the call for Washington’s upset win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Divisional Round.

Brady is not only in the discussion as the greatest player in NFL history, he’s also in the discussion for one of the greatest athletes in the history of sports.

If only briefly, Brady will have the opportunity to see two potentially great young quarterbacks, Daniels and Drake Maye.
