Maryland thrower Chioma Njoku placed 15th in the hammer throw at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Njoku’s throw of 64.86m earned her second team All-American honors.

Njoku’s best throw of the day was less than a meter off the 65.60m personal best she set at the East First Round in late May.

Njoku was Maryland’s sole participant in the NCAA championships. This is the third consecutive season in which a Maryland thrower has earned All-American status.

Maryland track and field had an impressive 34 students named Academic All-Big Ten.

Former Maryland women’s basketball player Alyssa Thomas earned Player of the Game for the WNBA’S Phoenix Mercury in her return from injury.
