Less than a week after receiving an offer from Tennessee football, Lipscomb Academy quarterback Ty Snell picked up another from Ohio State, according to a post on Snell’s X account.

The 6-foot-1, 174-pound freshman does not have an official ranking by 247Sports but holds offers from UT, Memphis, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Kennesaw State, Arkansas State, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State and Southern Miss and is considered one of the state’s top prospects in the 2029 class.

Snell’s career took off as an eighth-grader last season after being named the starter at Lipscomb Academy in arguably the toughest TSSAA football region in the state against Division II-AAA competition. Snell threw for 893 yards, four TDs and no interceptions in five games.

He earned his first offer from Marshall last year and picked up a Vols offer June 9. He attended an Ohio State camp June 12 and was offered that day. The camp included the No. 1 linebacker in the 2027 class from Texas and No. 17 overall, Cooper Whitten, son of former Tennessee star and retired NFL tight end Jason Whitten.

Snell, whose family moved to Nashville in 2020, spent his seventh-grade spring semester at IMG Academy in 2024 before returning to Nashville and enrolling at Lipscomb Academy.

The Tennessee and Ohio State offers represent a significant jump in his recruiting. The Buckeyes are coming off a College Football Playoff national championship after they beat Notre Dame in January.
