The San Francisco 49ers have to stay healthy in 2025. originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The San Francisco 49ers are coming off of a very disappointing season where they finished dead last in the NFC West with a 6-11 record.

And the injury bug could be blamed for a lot of that disappointment.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton, he gives one roster flaw that could mess with every Super Bowl contender’s chances this season. For the Niners, he thinks that flaw is some of the team’s stars being very injury prone.

“If McCaffrey and Williams are spectators for extended periods like last year, expect San Francisco to finish with a sub-.500 record,” Moton wrote. “The 49ers’ backups at running back and left tackle won’t be enough to get them to the playoffs.”

Trent Williams and Christian McCaffrey missed a combined 20 games in 2024, which played a big factor in the team not meeting people’s expectations for them.

But they will be hoping that this season can be different.

Both offensive stars were named First Team All-Pro in 2023, where they both played 15 games or more. That shows that, despite their advancing age, they are still among the best at their respective position, with each of them being the best at times.

San Francisco missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020 this past season, so McCaffrey and Williams be hoping to stay healthy to help the team redeem themselves in 2025. The Niners have one of the best rosters in the NFL, but they have to stay on the field.
