Luke and Stockton Oxarart are gearing up for one of their final high school football games against each other with the Class B All-Star game looming on June 14 with their final high school game coming in the East-West Shrine Bowl the following Saturday. The second cousins have shared the field many times throughout their lives, but this upcoming game will mark the beginning to the end of their high school football careers.

Luke Oxarart, playing for the South All-Stars from Jefferson, expressed his excitement about the opportunity. “It’s pretty cool. Clearly I want to win but it’s an honor to play with him too.”

Stockton Oxarart, representing the North All-Stars from Malta, shared his thoughts on the game. “I went up against him in my life. Competing against him in the all-star game means a lot, there’s a lot of talent on my team, there’s a lot of talent over there as well, it’s going to be fun to play.”

Over the years, the Oxarart cousins have experienced success on the field. They took a moment to reminisce about their earliest memory of playing football together.

Stockton recalled their early days, saying, “The first memory I have, he used to live in Malta, we played flag football together, we were on the same team, we definitely schooled some other kids. We were pretty good, I wish he was on my side of the ball but it’s alright.”

Luke added, “My first memory, probably the third grade, we put on their old football pads and just went at it in the school parking lot.”

Throughout their high school careers, Luke’s Panthers have a 2-1 record against Stockton’s Mustangs. However, Stockton holds a state championship title, a point of family discussion during the holidays.

“Around the family dinners at the holidays it would get brought up,” Luke mentioned, “they’d wear their state championship shirts and stuff. Pretty rough.”

Stockton acknowledged the family competition, saying, “There’s definitely a family rivalry. We talked a little bit about it at Christmas. I could tell he was still a little angry but we kinda calmed things down, bragged about it, it’s all good.”

The East-West Shrine Bowl in Great Falls will be the final high school game for the Oxarart cousins, with Stockton representing the East and Luke the West. Both will play football at the collegiate level this fall with Stockton signing to play at Rocky Mountain College with Luke signing with Montana State.

The 36th Montana Class B All-Star Game will be broadcasted on SWX Saturday June 14 1pm.
