To quote Drake: “Can’t have everything, can’t have everything.”

The Denver Broncos have been on a roll since the Sean Payton era commenced in 2023. Hitting on a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft in Bo Nix, developing a Defensive Player of the Year in Patrick Surtain, and going to the playoffs happened all within two seasons. However, not everything in the Payton era has gone gold.

Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano recently ranked the 32 backup quarterbacks in the NFL, and Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham was ranked in the bottom 12, coming in at No. 20. Manzano ranked Stidham low mainly due to the veteran QB not playing a snap in 2024.

“Stidham heads into his second season as the Broncos’ backup after losing the starting competition to Bo Nix last summer,” Manzano wrote for SI. “Stidham didn’t record a passing attempt in 2024, but he did have two productive starts for the Raiders toward the end of the ’23 season.”

While expectations for Stidham are low, his six seasons in the NFL should help current starting quarterback Bo Nix on the field and off.
