Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan made it clear at the opening of minicamp that veteran cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was not going to be available for these sessions. That left Jarvis Brownlee Jr. as the leader in the room, and the second-year player appears to be embracing it.
Members of the media caught up with Brownlee after Day 2 of minicamp, and the young corner opened up about how he is handling Sneed’s absence.
“When he’s not here, I feel like it’s left to me to get the young guys going,” he said. “Getting the up-to-date, getting them playing fast to where they are learning the defense, and get out here and just playing football. Just having fun.”
Looking back at 2024, it has been a fantastic journey for the fifth-round pick, who was thrust into the lineup after injuries took out the high-priced tandem the Titans acquired before the season. Not only did he step in and gain valuable experience, but he exceeded all expectations and has positioned himself solidly in the Tennessee secondary heading into Year 2.
Tennessee has added multiple cornerbacks from the draft, waivers, and as undrafted rookie free agents, and Sneed’s absence could open the door for one of those young players to catch the eye of the staff. Brownlee did that last season and is now one of the leaders on that side of the ball.
