Denver Broncos second-year wide receiver Devaughn Vele was absent for all three days of the team’s mandatory minicamp this week, apparently with an undisclosed injury.
Speaking after practice last Thursday, Broncos coach Sean Payton did not seem concerned about Vele’s situation, and he indicated the receiver will be ready to go when training camp begins (presumably in late July).

“He’s going to be full-go start of training camp,” Payton said. “Everything is good.”
When asked to elaborate, Payton shut down the topic.
“That’s it,” Payton said when a reporter started to ask a follow-up question. “That’s it. Did you hear me? That’s what ‘That’s it’ means: that means it stops.”
That response to Payton led to some speculation that the receiver might be absent for non-injury reasons, but KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis has reported Vele is dealing with a leg injury.
So the receiver’s absence shouldn’t be cause for alarm, especially after Payton said the receiver will be full-go at training camp later this summer.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Payton said wide receiver A.T. Perry (ankle) is the only player who might not be ready to practice when training camp begins.
“There may be one player, Perry, that might go a week into training camp and then be ready, depending on how the summer goes,” Payton said. “Outside of that, we expect everyone back.”
Other than Perry’s lingering recovery, Denver seems to be in pretty good shape going into the summer.
