Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter has impressed coaches and teammates with his boundless energy and dual-position versatility during the team’s offseason program. The second overall pick has been frequently spotted dancing before and during practice sessions while learning both receiver and cornerback positions.
Offensive coordinator Grant Udinski praised Hunter’s enthusiasm during recent team activities. The former Colorado standout traded four draft picks to Jacksonville, including a 2026 first-rounder, when the Jaguars moved up to select him.
“It’s been a lot of fun. I’m sure you guys see it, him out here. The dancing at practice, the fun, the love of the game,” Udinski said.
Teammates Notice Hunter’s Athletic Ability
Hunter’s teammates have taken notice of his explosive athleticism and coachability. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence highlighted the rookie’s tireless motor and positive influence on team chemistry.
“He has a lot of juice. He can run all day, has a lot of energy. He’s like a kid; just runs around all day, he doesn’t get tired,” Lawrence said.
Receiver Brian Thomas Jr. emphasized Hunter’s attention to detail and persistence during drills. Running back Travis Etienne Jr. called Hunter’s energy “contagious” regardless of weather conditions.
Physical Development Shows Promise
Head coach Liam Coen noted Hunter’s physical growth since joining the organization. The rookie has achieved significant muscle mass gains while maintaining his natural athleticism across both offensive and defensive positions.
“We had the weight room goals and accomplishments this spring, and he was up there with some of the guys who have put on the most muscle mass since getting here,” Coen said.
The Jaguars face the challenge of developing the NFL’s first regular two-way player in over 60 years. Philadelphia’s Chuck Bednarik last accomplished this feat from 1949 to 1962.
