Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers held three on-field practices during the team’s mandatory minicamp this week. Thursday’s practice finished off the offseason workout program and sent the Packers roster into a five-week break before training camp.

Information is hard to glean this time of year. While teams are doing important installs ahead of training camp, live periods are limited, contact isn’t allowed and the product on the field is a fully watered down form of “football.”

What did we learn about the Packers over the last three days? Probably not much.

Here are some things to know from minicamp:

Bo Melton attempting Travis Hunter things

Melton, a receiver, is getting a chance to prove he can play cornerback. This isn’t a position change, however. Melton is a receiver who is cross-training at cornerback, potentially giving him dual-threat ability. This is just an offseason experiment, and expectations should set accordingly. But Melton’s brother plays corner in the NFL, and he has the size, athleticism and movement ability of a corner. His experience covering kicks and punts gave the Packers confidence he can handle the physical side of playing defense. Who knows how it will shake out come training camp, but crazier things have happened. Melton emerging as an emergency option at corner would give him a much better chance to make the 53-man roster come this summer, especially considering how valued he is as a special teamer already.

Offensive line

It’s near impossible to learn anything about the offensive line during the offseason workout program, when contact is limited and most live periods are glorified 7-on-7 sessions. But lineups up front can still provide clues about what the team is thinking entering training camp. A few things of note: Jordan Morgan took first-team snaps at left tackle, Donovan Jennings got first-team snaps at left guard and played some center, and Jacob Monk was a top option at center with Elgton Jenkins not practicing and also worked at right guard. All three appear to be important second-year players for the Packers offensive line entering camp.

Receivers make noise

Mecole Hardman made a circus catch of a Sean Clifford pass to end practice on Tuesday and then made one of the highlight plays of minicamp on a deep bomb from Jordan Love for a “game-winning” touchdown in the two-minute drill. Hardman has a chance to be the primary returner, but making plays as a receiver could really boost his value in a crowded receiver room. Elsewhere at receiver, Cornelius Johnson — a 2024 undrafted free agent out of Michigan — made a few plays on Wednesday and a few more in the red zone on Thursday. The receivers will be in the spotlight all summer, but Hardman and Johnson are two to watch early in camp.
