Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Khalil Mack contemplated retirement before ultimately re-signing with the club this offseason.

The 34-year-old could have gone elsewhere to pursue a ring but called returning to L.A. a “no-brainer.”

“Why not here, man?” Mack said on Wednesday, via ESPN’s Kris Rhim.

Mack inked a one-year, $18 million deal to remain a Charger this offseason as one of the top free-agent edge rushers on the market. He said the decision wasn’t about money but rather that he wanted to be part of what Jim Harbaugh’s club has started to build.

“I had to be fair in the approach to things and not making it about just finances and all the different things,” Mack said. “I tried to make it more so just about winning ball games.”
