The Denver Broncos brought in seven players for tryouts at mandatory minicamp last week.

The list included Wyoming safety Wyett Ekeler (Austin Ekeler’s younger brother), international tight end Patrick Murtagh, Colorado wide receiver Will Sheppard and veteran linebacker Milo Eifler. The Broncos do not plan to sign any of the players “at this time,” according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Not getting an immediate deal does not necessarily mean this is the end of the road for the tryout players, though. Denver could keep the players in mind if injuries pop up later this summer.

“We’re evaluating everything,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said of tryout players last week. “We’ll watch the tape. They have a helmet and a jersey on. We’re looking closely, ‘Can they help us? What’s the vision? What could they do?’ History has told me, personally, [that] I’ve found guys in this camp that weren’t on the 90 [-man roster] that later became on the 90 and then played the following year. So we have to evaluate them all.”

Nothing is imminent for last week’s tryout squad, but we’ll see if anyone returns down the road.
