NFL quarterback Peyton Manning dines at Chuck’s in downtown Mobile

Former University of Tennessee and Super Bowl-winning NFL quarterback Peyton Manning stopped in for dinner over the weekend at Chuck’s Fish in downtown Mobile.

“Big thanks to ‘The Sheriff’ Peyton Manning for having dinner with us at Chuck’s last night,” the restaurant posted on social media Saturday. “His generosity to the staff made it even more special – it was such a pleasure to have him visit!”

Manning was born and grew up a two-hour drive from Mobile in New Orleans, the son of legendary University of Mississippi and New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning. He’s also the brother of Eli Manning, who went to Ole Miss and won a Super Bowl as an NFL quarterback.

Chuck’s was founded by Charles Morgan III, a Birmingham native and University of Alabama graduate who started Harbor Docks, the Florida-based seafood wholesaler and restaurant.

Chuck’s is named for his father, famed civil rights attorney Charles “Chuck” Morgan Jr., who won landmark voting-rights cases and led litigation that desegregated The University of Alabama, also his alma mater.

Chuck’s has seven locations, including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Madison, Montgomery, Athens, Georgia and Tallahassee, Florida. The Mobile location is at 551 Dauphin Street.
