San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle signed a four-year, $76.4 million contract extension this offseason, while star linebacker Fred Warner landed a three-year, $63 million deal. Yet neither contract comes close to the headline-grabbing extension secured by their quarterback.

Brock Purdy‘s contract negotiations were the dominant storyline of the 49ers’ offseason. The saga ended with San Francisco locking in its franchise quarterback with a five-year, $265 million extension—the largest contract in team history and one of the most lucrative in the NFL.

Kittle recently joined The Pat McAfee Show and shared a lighthearted take on what Purdy’s massive payday means for the team.

“He’s buying everything from here on out,” Kittle joked. “Hopefully, he pays for the Halloween party this year, and it’s not me and Juice (FB Kyle Juszczyk) anymore.”

Kittle added, “[$265 million] could put together a better one.”

When reminded that Purdy once needed a roommate to afford rent in the Bay Area, Kittle showed little sympathy.

“So did I,” Kittle laughed. “Yeah, he’s fine. We all did it.”

As for Purdy’s fashion sense—often mocked as looking like a college student headed to class—Kittle hilariously didn’t hold back.

“The Kohl’s king,” the All-Pro tight end said.

Despite the record-setting contract, Purdy doesn’t appear to be the type who will let wealth change him. The 49ers’ signal-caller remains grounded and focused, traits that helped him rise from the final pick in the draft to the face of the franchise.
