It’s well known that the Washington Huskies are coming into the 2025 season with one of the nation’s top running backs in senior Jonah Coleman.

According to Trevor Sikkema and Connor Rogers of Pro Football Focus’ NFL Stock Exchange podcast, he’s also one of the top prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. The hosts ranked him No. 4 and No. 3, respectively, among draft-eligible running backs in the class, and gave glowing reviews of Coleman that were backed up by some impressive numbers.

Not only did the former three-star recruit who followed Jedd Fisch to Washington from Arizona rush for 1,053 yards and 10 touchdowns, but some of his advanced numbers also rank among the best in the country. The 5-foot-9, 229-pound Coleman has never fumbled on over 400 rushing attempts in his college career, 67 missed tackles forced (0.36 per attempt), and picked up 833 yards after contact last season (4.3 per attempt).

“He’s got much better lateral ability than you would expect for a player of his weight class,” Sikkema said. “I think he’s got decent processing speed to try and find those open lanes, and I think we saw that behind both power and zone blocking concepts…I think he’s got great vision, technique, and effectiveness in pass protection.”

“Coleman is awesome,” Rogers added. “Guys just don’t really have an answer on how to deal with his contact balance. The times when he jumps over people, it’s just ridiculous what this guy can do. The tap-dancing feet, he’s so savvy at the line of scrimmage…it doesn’t take a lot of momentum for him to generate power. With Jonah Coleman, really one step after he gets the football, he generates that power, and I think it’s the compact muscle and low-to-the-ground running style.”

The senior has proven to be one of the most efficient running backs in the country, and Fisch’s coaching staff may ask him to shoulder a lighter workload than he did in 2024 to keep him fresh. Last season, Coleman tallied 216 touches (193 carries and 23 receptions), but with quarterback Demond Williams Jr., along with running backs Adam Mohammed and Jordan Washington, all expected to play some role in the running game, Coleman may prove to be even more efficient in his final season.
