The Seattle Seahawks are an unpredictable team heading into the 2025 season. After going 10-7 and barely missing the postseason, John Schneider and Mike Macdonald decided the status quo wasn’t enough. Sam Darnold replaced Geno Smith as the starting quarterback, Klint Kubiak is the new offensive coordinator, and DK Metcalf was traded after causing a distraction.
Pro Football Focus recently compiled a list of the most overlooked teams in the league. The Seahawks are among the five teams chosen.

“This offseason brought a lot of turnover to the Seahawks, particularly on offense,” Dalton Wasserman wrote. “They’ll enter 2025 with a new offensive coordinator, a new quarterback, and two new wide receivers on the outside. Despite all the moving pieces, headlined by quarterback Sam Darnold, Seattle appears to have a clear vision for its offense under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.”
“The big question for Seattle will be an offensive line that collapsed in pass protection down the stretch last year,” Wasserman continued. “A healthy Abraham Lucas and a productive rookie season from Grey Zabel could improve things up front in short order. If that happens, the Seahawks still have the requisite tools to be in the postseason mix.”
Wasserman’s provides in-depth analysis. He’s correct that the offensive line could hold the keys to 2025’s success. Lucas and Zabel, and what happens at right guard and center, is imperative. Darnold’s familiarity with Kubiak’s zone-based system could help the QB-OC duo form an effective tandem.
