Former Denver Broncos coach Ejiro Evero and safety Justin Simmons may be reuniting in Carolina, as the Panthers have expressed interest in signing the veteran defender.
According to Sheena Quick of 1340 FOX Sports, the Panthers have contacted Simmons’ representation about joining the team. But the report says nothing is going to happen soon.
The two-time Pro Bowler’s first season away from Denver was last fall, playing for the Atlanta Falcons, where he was a key cog.
A third-round pick in 2016 by Denver, Simmons spent his first eight seasons with the Broncos before he was cut by Sean Payton’s regime. Simmons then played one season for the Falcons, finishing with 62 total tackles and seven passes defensed and two interceptions.
In 134 career games, Simmons has 71 career passes defensed and 32 interceptions. Including his 2022 season playing for Evero, when he led the NFL with six picks.
Simmons was around for the entire Broncos playoff drought and was on some pretty lean teams, including as a captain. He’s still beloved by Broncos Country.
