The Denver Broncos have already made some rookie minicamp news by having former sixth round pick for the Cincinnati Bengals, Chris Evans, join in as a tryout player.
And now the rookie minicamp saga continues for the Broncos, as the brother of one of the league’s game-changing running backs was invited to join the camp come the beginning of May, per Aaron Wilson.
Wyatt Ekeler, the younger brother of former Chargers running back, Austin Ekeler – currently with the Washington Commanders – is not yet a lock to end up in Denver’s rookie minicamp, given that he was also invited to the Eagles’.

But Denver’s minicamp should be a one of the more intriguing options for the younger Ekeler, whose season was affected after breaking both thumbs (on seperate plays) during Wyoming’s matchup against BYU last fall.
This was much of the reason his play did not quite matchup to his lofty standards set over the previous two seasons, where recorded 7 defended passes, compared to just 1 in 2024.
During the final stretch of the season, Wyatt Ekeler began to once again show why he is a potential NFL prospect.

Yet, the entire fiasco of a season generated respect for Ekeler, as he kept playing through both injuries – including recording an interception a month later against San Jose State despite having casts on both of his wrists.

And he was eventually granted the “Never Flinch” award in January, the award given in honor of former Wyoming linebacker Weston Johnson, who passed away from cancer in 2014.
There is not a clear road to start for Ekeler, given the presence of Brandon Jones and Talanoa Hufanga at both safety spots, but the Broncos do not have considerable depth at the position, so it would not be shocking if – assuming Ekeler accepts the invite – he has a legitimate shot at making the team or practice squad over the next couple of seasons.
