A look at 2024 third-round pick Elijah Jones and his second-year outlook in 2025.
The Arizona Cardinals drafted 12 players in 2024. Some of them had contributions as rookies. Some will have greater roles in 2025. Others will have to battle for the roster.
They selected cornerback Elijah Jones in the third round with the 90th overall pick.
Entering Year 2 in the NFL, let’s have a look at his 2025 outlook.
CB Elijah Jones’ 2024 season
Jones’ rookie season didn’t really happen. He didn’t play a down. He spent the season on injured reserve. He suffered an ankle injury in the preseason finale, was placed on injured reserved but later designated to return. He had his practice window opened but the three weeks came and went without being activated, so he missed the remainder of the season.
Elijah Jones’ Year 2 outlook for 2025
Jones, having not yet played a down in the NFL, is no lock for the final roster. If the Cardinals keep five cornerbacks, the top four presumed locks are Star Thomas, Max Melton, Garrett Williams and 2025 second-round pick Will Johnson. That leaves Jones battling with fifth-round rookie Denzel Burke, Kei’Trel Clark and the rest of the cornerbacks on the roster.
It will be a fun competition to watch in training camp.
