What To Expect From Michael Penix Jr. In 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Falcons shocked the world by drafting Penix eight overall in 2024, not long after signing Kirk Cousins to a massive $180 million contract. Cousins would end up having a down year, and was subsequently replaced by Penix, who showed some flashes and potential in his short run as quarterback in 2024.

Now Penix has the keys to the offense, and it is looking good for a team who has not made it to the playoffs since 2017. Penix, along with his supporting cast will look to change that in 2025.

The offense all starts with Penix, but it is run through pro bowler Bijan Robinson, and star wide receiver Drake London. Both of them had 1,000-yard seasons, Robinson in rushing and London in receiving. They helped this team have a top 15 offense in the league.
Other players like Darnell Mooney and Kyle Pitts can also look to be big weapons for this offense in 2025, as the Falcons will look to utilize the passing game more than they did last season. Having all of these weapons active whenever they are needed will surely bring out more confidence in the young quarterback.

Penix is also being coached by Raheem Morris and Zac Robinson, who can help him elevate his game in different ways. Both are highly respected coaches who can be monumental in the success of the Falcons and Penix.
There were many flashes shown in the few games that he played, including his tremendous arm strength and good accuracy with passes. There were some mistakes, but that’s going to be normal with a young and inexperienced quarterback.
The keys are with Penix, and this season can be an absolute breakout season for him.
