The Los Angeles Rams concluded their two-day minicamp on Maui Wednesday, drawing thousands of fans to War Memorial Stadium for a rare opportunity to see an NFL team in action on island soil.

The second and final day of the Rams’ stay in the Valley Isle featured a light practice session and plenty of fan interaction, headlined by local favorite and Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, who energized the crowd throughout the morning.

“It’s been a lot of fun,” said veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. “Yesterday we had the flag football camp with some of the guys and girls from around the area, and they were really impressive. Today, getting back out here and seeing so many people come out and support us, it’s a great opportunity to connect with the community.”

Wednesday’s event capped off a whirlwind visit for the Rams, who also hosted an NFL Play 60 youth clinic that saw more than 1,200 keiki participate. The initiative, designed to encourage kids to be active for at least 60 minutes a day, was a resounding success according to organizers and participants.

“It’s like a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Play 60 volunteer coach Chyleeann Tacang told KHON2 Sports reporter Mitch Riberal. “To be able to experience this with your friends, coworkers, and all the little keiki, it’s something I think the kids will remember forever.”

For many in attendance, including young Rams fan Kellan Casil, the experience was unforgettable.

“It means a lot because I’ve been wanting to meet them or at least see them,” said Casil. “To have them here on this small island is a great opportunity.”

Stafford echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the value of using the platform of professional football to inspire the next generation.

“It means a bunch to give back to the community and spread the game of football,” Stafford said. “It’s a unique opportunity to show kids from this area what we do and hopefully inspire some young Puka Nacuas to follow their dreams.”

With the Maui minicamp now in the books, the Rams will shift their focus to full training camp, which kicks off in late July.
