Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams is coming back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and looks like one of the top 10 best players at his position heading into the 2025 season.

However, there is a lot more ambiguity around the rest of the room, with second-yearBlake Corum and rookie Jarquez Hunter sitting behind the also-young Williams.

So while the rest of the Rams’ offense looks solid, the running game could be a detriment to the overall unit. And that sentiment was reflected in Pro Football Focus’ running back rankings heading into the season. PFF’s Dalton Wasserman ranked the Rams’ running back room as the No. 23 heading into the season because of the known issues around Williams’ game and the inexperience of the depth behind him.

“Kyren Williams racked up nearly 1,500 rushing yards last season, including the playoffs, but issues with fumbles and pass protection dragged his PFF overall grade down to a modest 69.1,” Wasserman wrote. “The Rams may be wise to find someone who can reliably spell Williams, who has taken the third-most carries in the NFL over the past two seasons.

“2024 third-round pick Blake Corum saw only 58 carries last season and averaged 3.6 yards per attempt. Ronnie Rivers and fourth-round rookie Jarquez Hunter are unproven depth options.”

Williams is good, but there are obvious flaws in his game that need to be corrected for him to become a true star at the position.

Last year, the Rams’ running game ranked 24th in yards, so this ranking aligns with their 2024 production. Corum was ineffective in his limited time and Hunter is a huge unknown as a rookie. Though, he can provide some explosiveness to the offense that it lacked from the backfield with Williams and Corum.

For now, the ranking is fair. Whether or not they exceed it is up to the rest of the team.
