Arch Manning on learning from Quinn Ewers to be Texas Longhorns QB

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning spoke about his relationship with Quinn Ewers and all the media craze he’s received since being at Texas.

Two highly rated Texas football prospects heard their name called on the final day of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Quarterback Quinn Ewers was the highest-rated prospect ever according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He led the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff in two consecutive years and has the third-most passing yards in program history.

Jaydon Blue, a four-star running back when he committed to the Longhorns, has been a part of the Texas committee approach the past two seasons. He saw his most action in 2025, carrying the ball 134 times for 730 yards and eight touchdowns. He ripped off a 77-yard rush as well and flashed pass-catching ability (his 368 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns were the most of any Texas RB.)

What are their roles in the NFL, though? Should either expect immediate playing times?

Quinn Ewers in the NFL: Where does he fit with Miami Dolphins

Ewers, once thought to a potential No. 1 overall pick, was taken by the Miami Dolphins 251st overall in the seventh round of the NFL draft.

It was a befuddling fall to many, as NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein and the Athletic’s Dane Brugler both projected Ewers as at least a third round pick. It led to some questions over Ewers’ choice to head to the NFL, as there were reports that the quarterback could’ve earned up to $6 million if he had entered the transfer portal.

Even so, there’s a chance that Ewers landed in the best spot possible to maximize his NFL success.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel comes from a lineage of NFL minds ― Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay and Matt LeFleur ― who base their schemes around the “West Coast” offense. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian’s offense is also based around the “West Coast,” and though it isn’t identical, he considers it similar to McDaniel’s.

Ewers will be under no pressure to start right away in the NFL, as Tua Tagovailoa has a firm grasp on the Dolphins’ starting job. However, Tagovailoa’s injury concerns could provide a path to playing time for Ewers.

Dallas Cowboys depth chart: How does Jaydon Blue fit

The Dallas Cowboys were one of the worse rushing teams in the NFL last season and they lost Rico Dowdle, their leading rusher, to free agency in the off season.

After signing Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders in free agency, the Cowboys drafted Texas running back Jaydon Blue in the fifth round. One of the fastest runners in the class, Blue rushed for 730 yards in his final college season. He showed an ability to beat defender one-on-one, burst in the open field and unfortunately, a propensity to lose the ball. Through his two years getting legitimate work in Texas’ backfield, Blue fumbled the ball seven times in 200 rushing attempts.

Blue offsets this downside with his ability to be a receiver. In Texas’ final game against Ohio State, the Longhorn caught five balls for 60 yards and two touchdowns. He’s likely the fastest back in Dallas’ running back room and a new option for quarterback Dak Prescott, who still lacks receivers outside of star CeeDee Lamb. If Blue can hold onto the ball in the NFL, he could be a unique weapon for the offense.
