During his minicamp press conference on Thursday, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid praised the progress of wide receiver Tyquan Thornton during offseason workouts.
“I like Tyquan (Thornton), I like the way he’s approached things,” Reid said. He’s got the quarterback’s trust, which is a positive thing. You have valuable reps in here. The other guys could see that he’s a talented guy. So, so far, so good again. I’d like to see him in a game situation, how he held. I would anticipate him doing a nice job and see where we are with that.”

A 2022 second-round pick out of Baylor, Thornton clocked in at an impressive 4.28 time in the 40-yard dash at that year’s NFL combine. He never panned out with the Patriots, accumulating 13 starts in 28 games and 39 receptions for 385 yards and two touchdowns. In 2024, he only had four catches for 47 yards in six games for New England.
After spending last season on the practice squad following the trade, Thornton could be in line for a significant opportunity in 2025.
