The Seattle Seahawks made the intriguing decision to select quarterback Jalen Milroe at No. 92 overall in the 2025 NFL draft. GM John Schneider made Milroe the highest-drafted Seahawks QB in more than a decade.

The Seahawks will bring Milroe along slowly. They signed Sam Darnold and Drew Lock in free agency after trading Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. The raw, inexperienced Milroe should spend his rookie season as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart.

The Seahawks are tasked with developing Milroe’s intriguing dual-threat abilities. One NFL executive who chose to remain anonymous recently commented on Milroe’s upside.

“Darnold and Geno to me are very similar, solidified starters but not in the top end,” an NFL personnel director told ESPN. “Geno has more of a track record as a passer, but Darnold threw 35 touchdowns last year, so if he can play close to how he did last year, that’s a great situation and opportunity for him. And Milroe has a different skill set. If he develops and figures out how to be a quarterback, he will become a really interesting player for them.”

Milroe’s athleticism made him an attractive prospect for a team like Seattle who can afford him the opportunity to sit and learn behind veterans like Darnold and Lock. Milroe threw for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions at Alabama this past season while adding 726 rushing yards and 20 additional scores to his offensive totals.

The Seahawks are invested in Milroe’s development.
